Val d’Isère’s December 2024 press announcement introduced the new Vallon gondola after eight months of construction. For returning visitors, the most visible change was the move from six-seat to ten-seat cabins on the high-altitude route above Le Fornet.
The operator’s project account describes a journey of six minutes and thirty seconds to 2,790 metres. It also records the removal of two drag lifts and 32 pylons as part of the wider reworking of the sector.
The historical change is the lift itself, not a promise that the route is open on any particular day. Anyone revisiting the area should use the current piste map and lift status when planning the onward journey.
