On 2 July, councillors approved reference values for the permanent-housing requirement in Val d’Isère’s local plan. The minutes describe a rule applying to developments exceeding both 600 square metres of floor area and six homes: 20% of floor area is to serve permanent housing.
The pricing framework used local median values across eight areas, with a 30% reduction. Councillors also discussed how to keep those homes in permanent residential use over time; that management framework still needed further work at the meeting.
The significance is a move from a planning principle towards a mechanism developers can apply. It was not an announcement of homes ready to rent or buy.
